Work to improve the main road through Newport, near South Cave, is scheduled to begin next month.
East Riding of Yorkshire Council is due to start a £910,000 resurfacing scheme for the village on Monday 11 July.
The resurfacing work will first be carried out along Main Street (the B1230 road) between the junction with Wallingfen Lane and the westbound slipway with the A63/M62.
That work is due to last for eight nights, and it will be carried out between 7pm each evening and 6am each morning, to avoid disruption to traffic and businesses.
The second stage of the resurfacing is then due to continue westbound on Main Street through Newport to St Stephen's Church for a period of eight weeks, from Monday 25 July to Friday 16 September, with work being carried out during the daytime from 8am to 5pm.
All the work is weather permitting.
To reduce the carbon footprint of this scheme, low temperature asphalt will be used, which reduces the amount of energy needed to manufacture the resurfacing material, and allows roads to be reopened more quickly than traditional materials like hot asphalt.
While the project is carried out, access will be maintained to properties along Main Road, the B1230, and roads leading off it, but some restrictions may apply.
Homes and businesses directly affected by the works will receive regular correspondence and the site team will try to keep any disruption to a minimum.
On-street parking in the working area will also be restricted for the protection of the parked vehicles, with cones used to indicate the area of the work.
Councillor Chris Matthews, the council's portfolio holder for environment and climate change, said: "We'd like to thank residents, business people and motorists in this area for their patience while this work is carried out.
"The resurfacing of this road is much needed and people will notice the difference when the work is complete."
The work will be carried out by council contractor Specialist Surfacing.
The scheme is part of the council's annual £12m capital programme of road maintenance works.
