Councillor Evison visits Snaith to meet with the local business community

Tue, 21 Sep 2021

Councillor Jane Evison recently visited Snaith to learn more about the town's tourism role, heritage offer and learn how the business community is adapting since the lifting of COVID-19 restrictions.

The portfolio holder for economic development and tourism at East Riding of Yorkshire Council met with Councillor Caroline Fox and Snaith & Cowick Town Councillor Richard Lyons along with Vicki Whitely, clerk to the council, to gain insight into the town's issues, aspirations and business growth opportunities.

The visit complemented the work being carried out by the Local Growth Team to enhance town centre prosperity, which includes the development of a Snaith Town Centre Recovery Plan currently being produced by retail consultants The Retail Group following a stakeholder workshop held this month. The Plan will include a range of practical ideas and actions to support Snaith town centre recovery and enhance the town's offer for residents, businesses, and visitors. Snaith is just one of 12 towns across the East Riding that have benefited from a COVID recovery plan, which have been funded through the UK Government's Welcome Back funding.

A walk about Snaith followed where Councillor Evison met with independent business owners.
