Eastrington Playing Fields and Recreation Ground have been awarded £12,814 funding from East Riding of Yorkshire Council as part of Commuted Sums from local housing developments. The funding has been awarded towards the construction of a Multi Use Games Area (MUGA) on the site.

In addition to the Commuted Sums Funding, Eastrington Playing Fields and Recreation Ground have received £10,000 from the Six Penny Wood Wind Farm Fund and £50,000 from the FCC Communities Fund. The total cost of the project is £72,814.

After consulting with the community, a need was identified for a MUGA. Eastrington Playing Fields and Recreation Ground are looking to install this in the far corner of the playing field.

A high number of respondents to a community survey were interested in playing 5 a side football, netball or tennis. The MUGA will enable them to set up village teams as well as allowing ad-hoc use by the community.

Caroline Scargill, Treasurer at Eastrington Playing Fields and Recreation Ground, said: "There are no facilities like this in the area and this project will provide a real boost to the people of Eastrington. It's fantastic that local funders have awarded us these grants and we're really looking forward to our Multi Use Games Area taking shape over the next couple of months.  We can't wait to see people using the new facility for Football, Cricket, Netball, Basketball and Tennis."

Councillor Gary McMaster, portfolio holder for planning, infrastructure, and housing, added : "I am delighted that we have been able to facilitate this funding for a MUGA for Eastrington through Commuted Sums provided by local housing developments as a condition of their planning approval. This award will clearly make a huge difference in the local area."
