Where can I find details of the forthcoming Battle of the Bands performance?

This year’s Battle of the Bands will take place on Friday 1 July 2022 at The Spa, Bridlington.

Please note that this competition is for school-based bands and you must consult your Head of Music before entering the competition.

Bands will be invited to attend a thirty-minute sound-check session between 12:00pm and 6:00pm on the day. Musicians will work with a professional sound engineer and have a chance to perfect their sound on the famous stage! This session will finish at 6:30pm; the ‘Battle’ will start at 7pm.

Please note: that the Schools' Music Service is not responsible for transport and cannot be considered as staff – you must organise your attendance at the event through your school’s Head of Music.

There are two local and influential judges who will be looking for band performance skills such as tuning, balance, rhythmical accuracy, style, interpretation, ensemble skills, communication and composition. 

Bands will be required to perform two songs which can be either original compositions, covers or a mixture of the two. 

Tickets will be available via the Spa Box office at a cost of £5 per adult and £1 per student.

2017’s Big Sing events will take place at The Spa, Bridlington and The Junction, Goole and the details are as follows:

The Spa, Bridlington

The Little Big Sing is intended for Key Stage 1 pupils and the timings for the event are as follows:

Monday 4 July 2022 - 10.45 - 11.45am (session 1) and 1.30 - 2.30pm (session 2).

Tuesday 5 July 2022 - 10.45 - 11-45am (session 3)

The Big Sing is intended for Key Stage 2 pupils and the timings for the event are as follows:

Tuesday 5 July 2022 - 1.15 - 2.45pm (session 1)

Wednesday 6 July 2022 - 10.15 -11.45am (session 2) and 1.15 - 2.45pm (session 3).

The Junction, Goole

The timings for the Big Sing event are as follows:

Wednesday 22 June 2022 - 10.30 -12.00 noon (session 1) and 1.30 - 3.00pm (session 2) at The Junction, Goole.

Thursday 23 June 2022 - 10.30 - 12.00 noon (session 3)

The timings for the Little Big Sing event are as follows:

Thursday 23 June 2022 - 1.30 - 2.30pm (session 1)

Friday 24 June 2022 - 11.00-12.00 noon (session 2) and 1.30-2.30pm (session 3) at The Junction, Goole.
