Counselling
Introduction to counselling
Do you need counselling training or need to use counselling skills in your current job? This introduction to counselling course provides basic information in counselling skills and the opportunity to find out about the role of a counsellor. You will receive training in counselling skills for use in a variety of work and personal situations. You can progress to our level 2 and level 3 counselling courses.
Counselling skills level 2 award
This course is for those who would like to develop the knowledge and skills needed to use counselling skills in either a work or a personal capacity. It will be particularly useful if you are interested in furthering your study, widening your work role or wanting to complement other areas of study (e.g. health and social care, children’s care, learning and development, voluntary and community work). This qualification does not qualify learners to practice as a counsellor and you should have a level 1 counselling qualification before embarking on this course.
Counselling skills level 3 diploma
This qualification aims to provide you with a more in-depth knowledge of the use of counselling skills in everyday life and work. You will develop your counselling skills and your understanding of the different approaches involved; helping you to appreciate the importance of self-development. This qualification does not qualify you to practice as a counsellor but, if you are thinking of a career change, it will give you the opportunity to learn more about the theory and ethics and help you to make choices about further employment and training options. Learners must hold a counselling skills level 2 certificate and attend an interview prior to enrolment.
Award in mental health awareness
This qualification is for you if you already work within the voluntary or community sector, would like to gain employment within this area, or are just interested in gaining further knowledge on the subject. Figures indicate that around one in four adults in the UK will be diagnosed with mental ill health at some point in their lives; this means that most people will have firsthand knowledge of this issue, either personally or through someone they know. The course will help to raise your awareness of mental health issues, explore ways of challenging the often negative perceptions of this problem and look at positive ways of offering support and advice.
