Clinical waste includes:
- needles, lancets, syringes, empty insulin cartridges
- colostomy waste
- dialysis waste
- soiled dressings.
As it is hazardous waste, we cannot collect it with your usual waste collections and it must not be taken to the tip. If you need to dispose of any of the above items you need to arrange a free clinical waste collection.
Please note: if you need to dispose of incontinence pads you can double bag them and put them in your general waste bin. As you have a condition that creates extra waste, you can request another green bin.
We can only collect sharps in a yellow box with either a yellow or orange lid. If your box has a different coloured lid, you will need to speak to your healthcare professional regarding how to arrange for collection and disposal.
