During summer 2017, the DfE confirmed that the new national funding formulae for schools, high needs and central schools services would be introduced as previously consulted on in 2018/19. School level funding allocations were provided by the DfE for each school in 2018/19 and 2019/20. However, these allocations are notional and the DfE have confirmed that it is still the responsibility of local authorities to distribute the overall schools block (the total of all school level allocations) to schools through its local funding formula.
Issues surrounding the national funding formula and the proposed East Riding local funding formula, including the results of a consultation with schools were discussed at two meetings of the schools' forum on 5 October 2017 and 23 November 2017. Responses to the consultation and subsequent recommendation from the schools' forum were presented to Cabinet on 12 December 2017.
Details of the final level of Dedicated Schools Grant for 2018/19 were announced by the DfE on 19 December 2017 and were presented alongside details of the approved 2018/19 local schools funding formula, to the schools' forum on 11 January 2018.
