In order to trade at a council market you must have:
Please note: we do not allow some items to be sold, such as:
- second-hand goods
- pre-owned DVDs/CDs
- offensive weapons, including kitchen knives
- controlled drugs and tobacco
- offensive material
- fake goods.
This is not a full list and the final decision will be made by the markets officer.
Casual and permanent traders
All traders begin as casual traders. As a casual trader you:
- will not be guaranteed a pitch, as they are allocated on a 'first-come, first-served' basis
- may not be given the same pitch each time you trade.
You must trade for 6 consecutive weeks as a casual trader before you can be considered as a permanent trader. Once you have traded for 6 consecutive weeks, the markets officer will discuss your options with you. If you are granted a permanent pitch you will be issued with an information pack that explains how you pay and what you should do if you decide you no longer wish to trade.
